I was born in Welwyn Garden City in Hertfordshire

My father was an agricultural merchant and farmer. I’ve always loved the natural world and some of my happiest memories are helping on the farm, particularly with the horses and cattle. Our home was always full of animals. We had dogs, puppies, and farm cats and I even hand-reared a fox cub named Vicky and trained her to walk on the lead!

I learned to drive as a teenager on a little grey Fordson tractor which bounced across the fields. There is always a job to do on a mixed farm with crops as well as cattle and a dairy herd.

I trained as a Montessori teacher and later qualified to teach in state primary schools. While my three children were growing up, I took a break from teaching and became involved in volunteering as a telephone counsellor which was very rewarding. I returned to the classroom for ten years when I worked in over forty primary schools as a supply teacher.

In the nineties, I started writing articles and short stories for magazines, followed by studying for certificates in fiction and creative non-fiction. Since 2006 I’ve been a creative writing tutor at Letchworth Settlement where I enjoy seeing adult students gain confidence and satisfaction from their writing.

But despite all my years of writing, it’s taken me all this time to finish something and have it published - Stone Arrows. Encouraged by one of my young readers, Reggie, I’m now writing a sequel to Stone Arrows called Stone Warriors.

I hope you enjoy Stone Arrows and I’d be happy to hear from you.
