KNOWING YOUR CHARACTERS

KNOWING YOUR CHARACTERS

You should already know a bit about your characters - particularly the main ones. Let's take Zeta. It took me a long time to get to know her. I imagined her in different situations and asked myself questions. What would she do if she met a bear or a wolf? For whom did she most care? What were her greatest fears? What did she want most in life? You need to get inside your characters' heads before you can set them free in your story. The better you know them, the easier the story will be to write. Have a go at this with your main characters. It's hard to empathise with too many characters, so I prefer fewer main characters rather than a huge cast. You want your reader to really care about what happens to them - whether they are goodies or baddies! Have a go and let me know how you are getting on through my CONTACT page on this website.  I'd love to read anything you've written, so do send it.
